What is a Realtor?

What does a Realtor do?Not all real estate agents are created equal. So, when you are planning to relocate and need the help of a realtor, there are some things you should know. Knowing how to choose a realtor will definitely help you get moving into a new home (or selling the one you’ve got) a whole lot faster – and easier.

In order to sell real estate, an individual must be licensed by the state in which they work. Realtors will be licensed either as a broker or an agent. Licensing is based on a variety of factors including experience, education, and examinations. If your realtor isn’t licensed in your state, you may not want their help finding a home to move into.

A reputable realtor will likely be a member of the National Association of Realtors. This is a national organization that employs a strict code of ethics for real estate professionals. Additionally, such individuals will have access to more homes than those that are not members – so, you may find yourself relocating even faster than you thought.

Your realtor will be legally obligated to conduct business in a certain way. These common obligations may include putting your interests above other individuals, keeping your information confidential, obeying your instructions (as long as they comply with the laws), providing you with useful information, and dealing honestly with money.

So, if you are considering relocation, you may need to employ a realtor. Now that you know what a realtor is, this task should become a lot easier.
