One thing you’ll definitely need to know how to do properly when getting ready to move is storing electronics. Often, many people find themselves having to store their belongings during relocation. So, in order to make sure your electronics are in good working order when you move into your new house, you’ve got to know how to store them correctly.
It is always best to store electronic equipment such as computers, cameras, and other home entertainment equipment in the original boxes and packing material they came in. Of course, this isn’t always realistic. If you no longer have the original packing materials, use plenty of bubble wrap, packing peanuts, and strong sturdy boxes for storage. Always mark the boxes fragile and use packing peanuts or crushed newspaper to fill voids within boxes so items don’t shift around. Don’t forget to also label the boxes so you know which rooms they belong in. Static electricity is an enemy of electronics so make sure to use static-free packing materials.
When you need to store other electronics including computer equipment and their peripherals like printers and scanners, you must take special care. The basic idea is to pack them just as you would other electronics with plenty of cushioning with packing peanuts and bubble wrap. However, when you pack your computer monitor for storage, it is a good idea to pack it standing upright. Never lay it flat, otherwise you run the risk of crushing the screen.
