Start date for new Bond movie
The 24th big-screen adventure of everyone’s favorite secret agent, James Bond, is set to get rolling. Variety is reporting that the new Bond movie is set to enter production on December 6th, starting with a table reading at London’s famous Pinewood Studios.
Daniel Craig is returning as Bond for his fourth film in the franchise, along with Ben Wishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as the new Miss Eve Moneypenny, and Ralph Fiennes as the new M following Judi Dench’s shock exit in the last film, all of whom were introduced in Skyfall. Also returning from the 2012 picture is director Sam Mendes. It is rare for popular franchises to take up to three years to deliver a new film; however, producers were willing to wait in order to secure Mendes’s services for the second time, after he initially turned down the job due to other commitments.
The new Bond film is expected to meet its projected release date of November 6th 2015. Other details about the new movie remain firmly under wraps, although MI6, the James Bond news website, has noted that a number of locations in Rome, Morocco and the Austrian Alps have been scouted by the production team.
Skyfall was the most successful Bond film ever at the box office, and producers will no doubt be hoping to recreate that success. Daniel Craig says that the tone of the new film may be a little lighter this time, while noting: “I can’t do shtick, I’m not very good at it.”
