Packing up your home – time management
One of the main problems with factoring in packing for your house move is that most of us underestimate just how many possessions we have. Not many of us regularly declutter, which means that the packing process is likely to be prolonged.
Once you have decluttered and disposed of anything you do not want to take with you to your new house, you should start packing boxes. Make sure that you start this packing process a few weeks before you are due to move and that you complete a few boxes each day. It is a good idea to have a dedicated area of the home where the packed boxes can be placed out of the way so that you are not walking around boxes for weeks on end.
Clear out one room to start with and use this to store your boxes until your professional movers arrive; alternatively, use your dining room or the garage. Start the packing with the items that do not get used regularly, such as books or out of season clothing, and you will find that you can get quite a lot packed without it impacting on your daily life.
