New St John’s Square location for top Peterborough restaurant
The highest rated restaurant in Peterborough is set to move to the site of a former pub in St John’s Square. Currently based in Lincoln Road, Clarke’s Restaurant has made the announcement that it will be moving to the city center and reopening in its new venue as of 2nd July.
The restaurant, which received the highly prestigious Michelin Three Forks award last year, will be making a move to take over the former Grapevine pub. “The new location puts us right in the heart of Peterborough’s restaurant scene with fantastic views across St John’s Square,” says head chef Lee Clarke. “With the larger restaurant we are able to offer more intimate dining and are adding both outside dining and a private dining room hosting a Chef’s Table experience.”
In addition to the restaurant, the new brand new Clarke’s is set to play host to a cookery school, offering budding chefs the opportunity to learn from Clarke and create the type of dishes that have enabled the restaurant to get a favorable mention in the current issue of the Michelin Guide.
The October issue of the prestigious Michelin Guide saw Clarke’s included just 12 months after it opened, becoming Peterborough’s highest rated eatery in the process. Clarke says that after the move he is hoping to achieve a Michelin Star rating next time, which is something that is very rare for new restaurants.
