Moving when starting a family

Move With FamilyExpecting a new addition to your family is likely to bring excitement, fun and stress ‒ all at the same time.  You might also be thinking about whether the time has come to move to new living quarters with extra space to accommodate the impending new arrival.

The first thing you need to decide is when you are going to need this extra space.  Your needs will be different if you are bringing home a baby or toddler than if you are adopting an older child.  Newborn babies do not take up a lot of space and you may not need to move to a bigger place to begin with.  Babies do not have their own possessions and may not even need their own room for a long time; on the other hand, a toddler will need their own room immediately, as will an older child.

You will also need to consider how much new space you want.  An apartment with one extra bedroom would probably fit the immediate requirements for most people, as you can always move somewhere even bigger a few years down the line.

Other people might like the idea of making a move from an apartment to a rented duplex or house in order to gain more storage space in addition to an extra bedroom.  Other families might decide to remodel their current home, depending on the available resources and cost issues.
