Moving Sales That Go Bust
When it comes to relocating, nothing is more important than moving with as few things as possible. Why anyone would want to pack up a bunch of stuff they’re just going to throw away or put into storage is beyond us. So, like many other professionals in the moving industry, we’ve suggested time and again to have a moving sale.
Moving sales, also known as yard sales or tag sales, are usually a pretty good way to unload all your old junk and make a few extra bucks on the side. That money could be used to buy the pizza and beer for the buddies that help you move – or if you really make a killing – could be used to hire full-service movers.
But, yard sales don’t always work out the way we want. You could have lugged all your stuff out by 7 AM and sat in the hot sun without having sold a single thing! Why does this happen?
Sometimes, a moving sale could be a disaster if you haven’t organized your goods. It is always a good idea to put similar things together – kitchen stuff, clothing, and so on. Another problem you might have is pricing everything too high. You’ve heard “another man’s junk is another man’s treasure” right? Take it literally – don’t price your stuff too high.
The truth of it is that having a moving sale is really a hit or miss sort of deal. You may find yourself selling everything you’ve got or dealing with the hassle of packing it all up again at the end of the day. Sometimes, people just don’t want what you have to offer. When that happens, it’s time to make a donation to your favorite charity.
