Moving Pets Abroad

Get your pets ready for your international reloactionLong distance residential moving with pets involved can be problematic, but what if you and your pet were moving overseas?  Moving to another country is stressful enough but also moving with your pet can throw up all kinds of issues that might not have occurred to you before.  But with research and preparation months prior to your departure, you can ensure a stress-free time for both you and your pet.  Hiring a legitimate mover will eliminate many issues automatically as they will be intimately familiar with your destination country’s rules and regulations.

You should bear in mind that each country will have different pet immigration rules with some countries still maintaining strict quarantine laws.  It is essential that you familiarize yourself with the rules of the country you are moving to.  A good idea would be to get in touch with that country’s embassy many months before you travel, so that you can put all the necessary requirements in place.

A pet passport will in most western nations negate the need for quarantine, but there are a few steps you must take in order to get this passport:  ensure that your pet is micro chipped and has had their rabies shots kept up to date.  Talk to your veterinarian about all the necessary USDA-authorized documentation.  Pets should also be tapeworm and tick-free a couple of days prior to travel.  Putting all these steps in place will ensure your pet has an enjoyable journey without having to go through a lonely quarantine.

Your long distance residential moving company will also be able to provide up to date advice and be with you, your family and pet right up until the moment you fly.
