What information must the local moving company provide?
So, you’ve planned out your entire move and are preparing for the big day. You have chosen an efficient moving company that makes matters far easier than you ever considered possible. Now, however, there are a few bits of information that the moving company is obligated to provide their customers. This information includes an estimate (the moving company should offer an estimate before any work is completed), a bill of lading, insurance coverage for all of your items in transit, and any claims.
The bill of lading is probably the most confusing aspect of moving. You see, this little scrap of paper is basically a receipt the individual will receive upon relinquishing possession of your household goods to the moving company. The bill will identify you as the owner of the items on the moving truck. It will also include all estimates and fees that are associated with the move – no matter how far.

When loading your items, the moving company you select may ultimately decide to tack on a few additional charges you should be aware of upfront.
