Keeping your furry friends calm during a move

Moving your furry friendsMoving can be a very stressful time for the great majority of human beings, so it should perhaps not be too great a surprise that it is also pretty stressful for our pets.  The good news, however, is that there are a couple of easy to follow tips that can help our furry friends to cope with the relocation.

Make sure that you have enough time to find somewhere new for both you and your pet to live.  Check out city and council ordinances to learn about the limits on the amount of animals you can keep in that particular area.  If you are a renter there are now a number of resources available that can help you to find apartments and other rental properties that are pet-friendly.

You should check with your vet to ensure that your animals are up to date when it comes to vaccinations and that they are in good health.  Make sure that during the move you keep their medical records somewhere that is easily accessible; this is something that is of particular importance if you are making a move out of your current state.

If your pet has not already become accustomed to spending time in a crate or carrier then you should start getting them acclimatized.  During the actual move you should make certain that your pets are in a secure area of the home before you begin opening doors in order to move out your possessions.
