How to Increase the Value of Your Waterfront Home

Waterfront HomeOwning a waterfront home may seem like a great investment, but did you know that there are ways to actually further increase the value of that home?  If you are considering moving from a waterfront home, you may want to keep these tips in mind.  That way, when you do relocate, you are getting the best price for the value of your home.

Expanding Your Dock

Most homeowners tend to have boats and boats need docks.  All waterfront homes should have a dock.  Think about it.  What is the point of moving to a waterfront home if there is no dock?  Consider the fact that waterfront property is increasing in price rapidly, which means the people buying it also have plenty of money – usually for large boats.  Make sure your dock can accommodate a 30-50 foot boat.

Carve a Path in the Backyard

If you have a dock in the backyard, you should also have a path carved to it.  Install lights, plant trees, and landscape the path as well to increase the overall look and value.  A good, well-lit path also ensures that you can stay outside longer in the evenings.

Build a Deck

Many waterfront homes don’t have decks, but they should.  Most people who move to waterfront homes love to spend time outside on their boats and in their yards.  A deck provides the perfect place to do this.  A sun deck allows for more outside entertaining opportunities as well.
