Historic House on New York’s 5th Avenue

Amazing House in New YorkNew York City has a lot of history with or without the many fantastic houses and buildings that line its streets. The culture, the art, and the history make the Big Apple an incredible place, which is likely why so many people move there each year.

There is one historic house, pulled right from the Gilded Age, on New York’s famous 5th Avenue. The regal townhouse is about to be listed for $49 million, so if you’ve got that kind of money and want to move to New York, now is the time!

The house was originally built back in 1907 for tycoon Henry Cook. Cook made his fortune in the banking and railroad industries. He was, in fact, quite famous back in his day. He moved in and stayed for years.

With 13,700 square feet of living space, this truly is one of the last remaining true New York City mansions. Crown molding and paneled millwork grace the interior leading one to think of an Italian palazzo from centuries ago. Little has changed since the home was built more than a century ago.

Overlooking Central Park, the house isn’t just a gift from the Gilded Age, it is also a gift of legendary Stanford White. He also designed the expansion of the White House and the Boston Public Library to name two other of his famous projects. The house is a beauty, and the next family that moves in will be stepping into a little piece of New York history.
