Hammock Day takes place every year on 22nd July. At this point in the calendar year the summer season is in full swing and there is no better time to be able to slow down and relax a little. In the dog days of summer (the season’s most sultry time) – and indeed every other hot sunny day in summer – the best place to slow down and relax is in a hammock.
Appropriately enough, Hammock Day is celebrated right at the heart of the dog days of summer, which run from 3rd July all the way through to 11th August. Hammock Day exists in order to allow people to enjoy the summer season in the manner in which it should be enjoyed. It is easy to celebrate Hammock Day, as all that needs to be done is to spend as much time as possible relaxing in one.
It is fine to get out of the hammock once in a while to indulge in a much-loved summer beverage, or to get a snack, but this is really the most exercise and exertion you should put in on this day. Work is not allowed on Hammock Day!
The history and roots of Hammock Day are something of a mystery to most; investigating would require a lot of effort, which somewhat goes against the ethos and point of the celebration. Just roll out the hammock instead and take a pleasant nap underneath your favorite shade tree.
