Getting Your Dog Ready to Move

Make sure move hassle free for your dogAs a person, you know that moving can be a real strain, so what do you think it is actually like for your dog?  Moving can really take its toll on man’s best friend.  The packing, loading and unloading, and the new place can be especially terrifying for your pooch.  And no matter how much you love your dog, you will never be able to explain to him why his world was just turned upside down.

In order to help your dog adjust to his or her new home after relocation, you need to start planning before you move.  Be sure of the type of transportation, how long it will take, and if there are any regulations to deal with if you are crossing state lines.  Knowing what to expect will always make it easier for you to deal with a stressed dog.

Before you move, pack all of your dog’s favorite toys, his leash, blankets, and snacks into one box.  Keep that box nearby so that you have easy access to it when you move.  You’ll also want to make a list of all the items you will need for the dog during the relocation – dog bowl, bedding, water bowl, and so forth.  Try not to move the dog bed, food, and water bowls until the very last minute.

Getting your dog ready for a move doesn’t have to be hard.  Just be ready to comfort your pet and make the transition as easy as possible.  In no time, your dog will love his or her new home!
