Father’s Day takes place in the United States every year on the third Sunday in June. Father’s Day is often seen as a day on which to honor your father, but perhaps a better way to view it is as a day on which to spend time with your father and make certain that he know that you appreciate everything he has done for you.
Your father will want to spend some time with you on Father’s Day. With today’s busy lifestyle, both children and fathers often have such hectic schedules that it is important to take time out in order to enjoy and appreciate each other’s company. Spending some time with your father on Father’s Day is the greatest gift that you can give him.
Our father is far more than just our biological paternal source. He is also someone who cares for us and provides for us, someone who helps to set our family’s values and standards, and an example for his children. Stepfathers and any other men who are willing and able to take on and cherish this role should therefore also be celebrated on this special day. Whether your relationship your father figure is adopted, biological or informal, they deserve recognition and appreciation.
The very first Father’s Day to be celebrated in the United States took place on 18th May 1910 in Spokane, Washington.
