Emma Watson turns 29

Emma Watson's new filmEmma Watson is about to turn 29.  Not literally of course, since the former Harry Potter actress is still only 23, but in a new film that reteams her with Perks of Being a Wallflower director Stephen Chbosky in an adaptation of the novel 29 by Adena Halpern.

The film, which will be called While We’re Young, centers on Ellie, a 75-year-old woman who is so young at heart that she has more in common with her 20-something granddaughter than her 50-something daughter, and a birthday wish see Ellie return to the age of 29 for just one day.  Chbosky proved a director adept at honest, mature emotions with Perks, which also announced Watson as a serious dramatic actress where she began to shake off her image as Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series.

Unlike Perks, which Chboksy adapted from his own novel of the same name, screenwriting duties on While We’re Young are to be handled by Michael H Weber and Scott Neustadter (The Spectacular Now, (500) Days of Summer) for 20th Century Fox.  The pair has rapidly become highly sought after scribes for their emotional adaptations of well-loved novels, and has also penned The Fault in Our Stars, an upcoming feature starring Shailene Woodley.

Watson is also gearing up to star in the drama Your Voice in My Head for director Francesca Gregorini, which starts shooting next month.  She can next be seen in cinemas in Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic Noah alongside Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins, which opens in the spring.
