Discovery’s final flight

Discovery’s final flightThe Discovery has now flown its last flight.  It will be moving from Kennedy Space Center to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, which is located in Virginia’s Udvar-Hazy center.

The shuttle had to be moved to Dulles International Airport before being loaded into a carrier plane and taken to the museum.  It will be placed next to the shuttle Enterprise, which was a prototype shuttle that arrived at the museum in 1985.  The Enterprise will be taken from Dulles to New York and will be on display at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.  This will be after the first day, when it will be side by side with the Discovery.

If you have recently moved to Washington DC or the surrounding area you now have one more reason to attend the Smithsonian, especially before the Enterprise is taken off display.  Living in DC or the surrounding areas provides you with plenty of entertainment, from theaters to museums.  A move to the area could provide more culture for you.  Likewise, a move to New York City can be a cultural and entertaining relocation where you can see the Enterprise soon.  Even if relocation is not in the cards to either of these cities, you might want to take a vacation to see these shuttles.  They are an important part of history that has slowly come to an end, since the USA has suspended launches into space for the next few years due to unmanned spacecrafts being launched instead.
