Cirque du Soleil nightclub for Las Vegas
The show scene in Las Vegas is increasingly being dominated by Cirque du Soleil, and now it appears that the organization is set to become a major player on the nightclub scene as well. A fully-fledged nightclub with a Cirque theme is set to move into the former Rumjungle space situated at Mandalay Bay, various media outlets are reporting.
The Las Vegas Sun is claiming that the new development will result in aerialists and the sort of acrobatics that have helped to make Cirque such a big player in the world of entertainment in Las Vegas. Guy Laliberte, the chief of Cirque, “promises that the Mandalay Bay space will be a unique nightclub” with cutting edge amenities, according to Sun celebrity chronicler Robin Leach. He added: “It’s an opportunity to materialize what we have been doing for 20 years with Cirque’s special projects.” Leach claims that the nightclub will open in February next year and might even allow its patrons to dress up in Cirque-style costumes. This is something that would create a club spectacle unlike anything else in Vegas.
Stacy Hamilton, the spokeswoman for MGM Resorts International, has confirmed that the new nightclub will be located in the Rumjungle space and that “we will be releasing details about the new club experience as soon as they are able.”
Cirque has been expanding in the area of hospitality of late, already having the Gold Lounge situated at the ARIA casino resort and the Beatles Revolution Lounge situated outside its LOVE show at The Mirage, but these are small areas rather than the big standalone club planned here.
