Advice about packing

Stress-free movingPacking is never easy, especially when placed in the context of moving home.  People are normally able to pack themselves when it comes to making smaller moves but the sheer magnitude of everything that is entailed in moving an entire home can very quickly become overwhelming; however, there are some tips that can make the process less of an ordeal.

One good tip is to make sure that you pack sturdy stuff yourself; packing some items yourself can be a good idea, especially if they are sturdy and inexpensive.  For one thing, if the items are sturdy then they are obviously not fragile and are thus unlikely to be damaged during the move or, if they somehow become damaged, they can be cheaply replaced.

You should not, however, try to pack fragile items yourself.  You should separate the fragile and expensive items such as antiques, your piano, expensive artwork and china.  Electronics such as computers, televisions and DVD players should also be included in this category and left alone while packing.  These items should be packed with the assistance of professional packers to ensure that the job is done in the correct manner and the items will make it to their destination in working order.

You should begin packing as soon as you can, and certainly no later than a few weeks before the day of the move.  This gives you plenty of time to separate items that you can pack yourself and those for which you will need to use the services of professional packers.
