FAQ's

What is a free on-site/office estimate?
A free on-site/office estimate is a scheduled appointment with one of our Moving Consultants to come your location from which you’re moving. It is an onsite visit, which allows our Moving Consultant to assess the amount of what is being moved and logistical requirements needed to get the job done right while reducing the risk of any damage.
How do you base your pricing?
Local: We usually base our local moves on the amount of hours and movers needed to complete the job. Some local governments have specific and unique pricing requirements that we are mandated to use. Out-of-State: If you are moving out-of-state, we base your move on weight and mileage. This is why it is required to schedule an on-site estimate when moving out-of-state.
Do you have any minimum requirements?
Yes, we have a minimum for both local and out-of-state moves. Local moves have certain requirements as they are normally based on hourly rates. For example, if your move only takes 3 hours, we would normally base final charges on a 4 hour minimum. This simply ensures our crews earn a bare minimum daily wage.
For out of state moves we do have a 1,000 lb. minimum. (Additional seasonal requirements may be in place.  To find out, schedule an appointment online or over the phone to have a friendly professional Moving Consultant come speak with you about your move.)  myBekins can help you move a couple pieces of furniture, no matter what the weight is. In most cases we would only charge for 1,000 lbs. as a minimum. Many movers have #2500 or even greater minimums.
Do you move vehicles?
Absolutely! We can move a vehicle or even a fleet of vehicles. Pricing will vary depending on the type/size of vehicle and distance.
How long will it take me to get from destination A to destination B?
Your move transit times are based on several factors: size of your move; distance being covered; and whether you have requested the premium expedited or exclusive use services. Before you book your move online those details are provided and if you schedule a free on-site appointment the Consultant will also be happy to explain.
Do you move pianos, pool tables, grandfather clocks, or a spa?
Yes. Some items might require crating or special handling procedures, but your myBekins crews have been trained to handle them all. We also move; big screen/flat TV’s, swing sets, sheds… just about anything you can think of, we’ve moved it.
What is your pricing on storage vaults?
We would not be able to give you an exact price for storage without seeing the items you wish to store. Some homes have large furniture that would require unique storage or “racked” storage. We’d love to give you a price after the consultant visits your home or office.
Do you Sub-Contract your moves?
No, we use our own moving consultants/loaders/movers. We do not use 3rd party services to do your move. Everyone that handles your move is exclusively affiliated with myBekins.
Are the same people who pick up my furniture the same people who deliver?
It will probably be the same driver (assuming you don’t require storage). He will go to the closest my Bekins location to get trained qualified helpers to load and unload your items, we won’t use daily labor.
How do you base your pricing for insurance?
We don’t sell “insurance”. We can provide you with basic valuation at no additional cost. If you would like to purchase additional coverage the cost is based on a value of the good to be covered with a set minimum value based on weight.
Do you offer any special discounts? (Senior Citizen Discounts/AAA/etc.)
We do but you would have to speak with one of our moving consultants. This way they can explain to you the requirements necessary to attain certain discounts.
How long are your estimates valid for?
30 days if created online only
60 days if created during an on-site/office consultation
If I book an appointment but I am not moving within 60 days will my pricing change?
It could. Pricing changes so frequently based on available capacity (much like airfare). We would simply need to reconfirm the details of your move before booking after the 30/60 days.
What do you charge for packing?
That would depend on how much of your belongings you wish to have professionally packed. You can an estimate online here or by scheduling an on-site/office appointment.
What different size trucks does Bekins have?
Box truck (10,000 lbs or less)
24 ft truck (12-14,000 lbs)
48 ft truck (~25,000 lbs)
53 ft truck (~30,000 lbs)
Are you fully licensed?
Certainly. You can check us out with the FMCSA, DOT, and local governance. And, feel free to talk to our customers about their results.
